Thinking of you and sending love on your 98th birthday. I really miss you and our daily phone calls. Rest in peace, Josie! Love, Sandy

Josie as a little girl

Josie was my godmother. Ever since I can remember, she has been a part of my life. Her generosity, her vigor for life, her sincerity, and her love will always be with me. She was a part of some of my earliest memories as a child. I remember visiting her at the Emporium with my mom. She would always buy me a special treat at the mezzanine cafeteria. She was a member of our family, and she and Auggie were at many family celebrations. I fondly remember the special birthday gifts she gave me...

Josie was an important part of my life since I was a child. She and my Uncle Auggie were close friends for over fifty years. Josie was an inspiration and role model for me. I will remember Josie with great affection for her kindness and generosity!

From my earliest days in San Francisco I cannot remember a time "without Josie" as a caring family friend. For every Crotti event--and there were many with the nine of us and mom and dad--Josie was present. She was always a great listener and a constantly cheerful presence. She was generous with encouragement and giving us meaningful gifts for milestones in our lives. I remember when I entered the convent at age 14. She took me to the Emporium where she worked and together we picked out...
