Not sure what to say?

Just learned of Miss Macchia's passing. I had Miss Macchia as my first Italian teacher at Broadway Junior High School from 1959 through 1961. It is not mentioned that she taught there. Miss Macchia is a giant soul in my memory who is among the few teachers one gets the honor of being their pupil in a lifetime. Absolutely the greatest Italian teacher I had among the many I have received instruction. Miss Macchia was the standard which I judged every Italian teacher I studied with the rest of...

I am truly Blessed to have known such a Sweet Lady. I wear her cross daily to have her close to me. I miss our special luncheons, visits and the fun rides in my sports car. Our laughter could be heard for miles. Our Senior meetings are not the same without your special prayers. Thank you for your friendship, love, support and letting me call you Jo. I still hear your voice and smile each time. Sending you Spirits of Love.

So sorry to hear of your death dear Josephine. Very sad news which I just heard today. You will be missed very much by all your family & many friends at St. Bart's Church. A former Rosary-Altar Society President who put me in charge of our Miraculous Medal Ribbons for many years.
A loyal & first member of our Friday Rosary Prayer Group for 28 years.
Sending our love, sympathy, & prayers to your loving family ESP. your dear sister Ann, & several close nieces. We will always remember...

Miss Macchia was one of my favorite teachers. She made learning to speak Italian fun. Rest in peace Miss Macchia you were the best! Sincerely, Andrea

Josephine loved travelling especially to Italy. She enjoyed visiting S. Arsenio, the small village where her family came from. My father Giuseppe and my uncle Arsenio remember her affectionately when she used to come to visit them and her relatives. I came from Italy to visit her 30 years ago when I was a joung girl. She welcomed me in her house and she became special to me. I came back to visit her again six years ago to show her my family.
She will always remain in the hearts of all...

I kept in touch with Josephine for many years after my folks, Fran&Angelo(Gilly), died but lost contact the last few years. Her phone number was never answered. I never had Ann’s number so contact was futile. She was in my thoughts. My condolences to all the surviving relatives, most especially to her sister. Lois(Ippolito)Waid

Miss Macchia was a great Italian teacher. They don’t come like that anymore. To this day I can still recite the pledge of allegiance in Italian thanks to her. We could only speak Italian in her advanced Italian class, she was an asset to Barringer and I’m happy she lived a long life. She deserved it after her hard work.
May she Rest In Peace.
