Not sure what to say?

Dear Holmes Family,
We are so sorry for your loss.Your Dad was a loving man, and had a long life. He was very blessed to live so long. My mom Gloria Brooks worked at the Middlesex Sheriffs office for over 20 years. She has been gone for almost 5 years, I still miss her every day. It will get easier but it will take a long time, and when you think you got it under control BAM it will hit you all again. But you will be stronger each time. Thank GOD you had your Dad for so many years.God Bless...

Sheriff Holmes was a good man and a good policeman. I remember stopping by his home and talking to him several times when I was with the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office. He seem to enjoy talking about old times during his Sheriff days.

My condolences and payers are with his family.

Barry Jones, Jr.
Officer - Virginia State Capitol Police
Former Deputy - Middlesex Co.

To The Holmes Family,

I express my deepest sympathy. Sheriff Holmes was a stong idol and a personal advisor to me throughout my law enforcement career. I met Mr Holmes as a child when he and his wife would my visit uncle in Gloucester County. We both I can have one thing in common, we were the only two African Americans that ever served as Law Enforcement Officers for Town of Urbanna. During the time I served as police chief in the Town of Urbanna from 1990-1994, Mr Holmes, even though...

To Mary Ann and the entire Holmes' family: My prayer, for all of you today, is that God will comfort your heart, bring peace to your soul, and reassure you in your Spirit that "all is well."

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, ""I welcome...

To the Holmes Family:

I had the great honor of working with Josh as a Deputy Sheriff in Middlesex from 1975 to 1977 when he at that time was the Chief Deputy under Sheriff Hall. I at that time was new to law enforcement as well as new to the county and Josh served as a guidepost to me not only as regarded my duties as a Deputy but to life in general. I know I speak for all who had the pleasure of crossing life's path with him that we are all better people because of the experience. ...

I have always had great respect and admiration for Sheriff Holmes. As a member of this community he was was always helpful, kind and generous with his time and resources. As a public servant and elected official he conducted himself with great dignity and brought integrity to everything he did. He was highly respected in the community because he treated everyone with respect and courtesy. He will be greatly missed.

Dear family:
I offer my deep condolences to you. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation." 2nd Corinthians 1:3
