Womble Funeral Home - Charleston Obituary

Joshua Michael Melton, 41, went to be with our Heavenly Father on January 9, 2021.  He was born January 24, 1979 in Clarksdale, MS to Mike and Sheila Melton.  Josh was born with colic, so even as a baby, he was loud and made his presence known.  Four years later, Josh’s best friend was born in the form of a little sister, Ciji.  They shared a unique and unbreakable bond.

Josh attended Strider Academy where he enjoyed playing basketball and developing friendships that would last forever.  To know Josh was to love him.  He graduated in 1998.

Josh met Maria Adams in 1996.  They were both so outgoing and animated and were instantly drawn to each other.  Josh and Maria fell in love and were married in 2000.  They made their home in Brazil, MS.  Since then, they have had two beautiful girls, Ashlynn and Hallie.  Josh loved his girls more than anything in this world and was so very proud of them.

Josh owned his own business, A&H Landleveling.  He loved his work and loved being able to work alongside his dad and some of his best friends.  Josh loved his life.  He loved his family and his friends.  He had the best heart and loved people without abandon.  Josh had a beautiful soul and a kindness that showed in his eyes.  He had a contagious smile and boisterous laugh that would lift even the lowest of spirits.  He will be missed forever by all who knew him.

Josh is survived by his wife, Maria; his daughters, Ashlynn and Hallie; his father and mother, Mike and Sheila Melton; his sister, Ciji (Randy) Sanders; his nephews, Blaine and Zach Sanders; his grandfather, Edward E Shook; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Danny and Teresa Adams; his brothers-in-law, Chris (Megan) Adams and Scott (Bethany) Adams; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dillard D Melton and Dorothy Logan Melton; his maternal grandmother, Johnnie Mae Shook; his aunt, Debbie Shook Starnes; and his nephew, Jayden Adams.

Immediate family will visit Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 1 P.M. at Adams Arbor Church of God of Prophecy.

The service will follow at 2 P.M., Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Adams Arbor Church of God of Prophecy.
