Josie L. “Jody” Pennington age 72 passed away on Tuesday September 18, 2018 at the Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, VA.  


Mrs. Pennington was born in Saltville, VA on February 12, 1946. She is preceded in death by her father Preston C. Davison; brother Bill Davidson; and sisters Nancy Frye & Joyce Martin. Josie worked many years at Buster Brown, and later retiring from General Dynamics. She was strong in the Baptist faith and enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers and vegetables.  


Survivors include her loving husband of 56years Delmer “Gene” Pennington of Chilhowie; mother Mary Davidson of Saltville; son Michael E. Pennington & wife Tammy of Chilhowie; daughter Patricia A. Johnston & husband Mark of Abingdon; grandchildren Matthew Pennington & wife Whitney “Lundy” of Linden, VA, Justin Pennington of Johnson City, TN, and Eric Sweat & wife Tara of Chilhowie; great grandson Carson Pennington; brother Kenneth “Tom” Davidson & wife Debbie of Saltville; sister Peggy Pack of Marion; numerous nieces & nephews and special friend Robyn Edmiston also survive.


Funeral services will be held at 8:00PM on Wednesday September 19, 2018 from the Bradley’s Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie with Pastor Jonathan Jones & Pastor Rodney Olinger officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday at McClure Cemetery in Chilhowie. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Bradley’s Funeral Chapel of Chilhowie is serving the Pennington Family.
