Josie Julieanna Thornton-Senegor

April. 16, 1991 - January 19, 2009

Our cherished daughter, sister and friend Josie Julieanna Thornton-Senegor was taken away from us

at the tender age of 17. Born on April 16, 1991 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Josie came to Stockton as a baby and has lived here since. She attended Annunciation School and Lincoln High School and was a senior, ready to graduate in June 2009, before her untimely departure.

For those who knew Josie, and there are many, she was a vivacious, outgoing, extremely friendly girl. She was a hard, diligent worker with a strong sense of responsibility. In addition to school Josie worked as a medical assistant, and later at Mr. Pickles sandwich shop, where she displayed an exceptional work ethic. Josie was always a girly girl, in love with fashion, accessories, couture, and glamour. One highlight of her life was when she accidentally ran into Tom Cruise in New York City in 2005 with his then fiancée. She cherished the photos she took of him in Mid-town Manhattan. She aspired to be a big city professional, and took on the hero from the movie Legally Blonde as a role model; she knew she was smart, and stylish just like that character. Unfortunately she never got to own a small dog, even though she asked for it frequently. Josie was also interested in music. In addition to taking piano for many years, she sang with a Youth Choir, and proudly performed in the Stockton Symphony performance of Carmina Burana. Josie loved little children and they were naturally taken to her. She was an excellent babysitter, and would have made an exceptional mother had she not left us so young.

Josie will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her mother Julie Thornton-Senegor; father Dr. Moris Senegor; sister Gina, and brother Richard. She is the granddaughter of Virginia and Richard Thornton of Salinas, CA, and Yasef and Sara Senegor of Stockton. She is also survived by her uncles Dan Thornton of Salinas CA, Michael Thornton of Grand Tetons, WY, and Yomtov Senegor of Seattle, WA.

All are welcome to attend Josie's memorial service on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Annunciation on 400 Rose Street as well as a public viewing at ABC Wallace, 445 N. American Street, on Monday, January 26 from 12:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to D.A.R.E. at P.O. Box 512090 Los Angeles, CA 90051.
