Josie Vogel

Josie Vogel, age 90, of Sibley, Iowa formerly of Worthington and Bigelow, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Sibley Nursing and Rehab in Sibley. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the Sibley Christian Reformed Church in Sibley, Iowa. Rev. Roger Bouwman officiating. Graveside Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, Iowa. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 24, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Sibley Christian Reformed Church in Sibley. Josie Vogel was born on October 30, 1925 in Bigelow, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Tunis and Nellie (Faber) Runia. She lived her youth near Bigelow and attended country school, and received her G.E.D in 1985. She was united in marriage to Alvin Vogel of Sanborn, Iowa on January 11, 1949 in Bigelow. They farmed and raised their children in the Bigelow area. In 1982, they moved to an acreage at Org, Minnesota. Alvin passed away in August of 2002. Josie continued to live on the acreage until 2012. Josie was a life-long member of the Christian Reformed Church, first in Bigelow and Worthington, Minnesota and more recently, in Sibley Iowa. Josie enjoyed gardening, taking special pride in her many flowers. She also enjoyed tatting, quilting, reading and fixing jigsaw puzzles. Her greatest joy was her family. She passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab in Sibley, after a brief illness. Those left to cherish her memories are 2 daughters, Lorraine Edwards of Bigelow, MN and her son, Jason; Barbara (Brian) Bucher of Matlock, IA and their children , John, Derek, Cody(Meghan), Jared; one son: John (Hannelore)Vogel of Oberhaid, Germany and their children, Beatte, John Jr., Nicole, Michael, Oliver, Jasmine, Patrick, and Andy; 2 brothers, John (Marjorie) Runia of Brookings, SD, Peter (Joann) Runia of Hamilton, MT; 3 sisters, Tracy Kuipers of Worthington, MN, Sylvia Andringa of Sanborn, IA, Gertrude (Gary) Abels of Sibley, IA; special friend, Tracy Den Beste of Sibley, IA; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years; 3 children in infancy, Irvin Dale, Nelvina Grace, Lavonne Joy; 2 sisters, Jennie Postma and Anna Bialas; one infant brother.
