Goodman, Jospeh Harry Of Grand Blanc, age 80, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Regency at Grand Blanc. Funeral service will be held 11am Monday, September 15, 2014 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 2143 South Center Road, Burton, Father Matthew-Peter Butrie officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church or to the family. Visitation 3-7pm Saturday, 1-3pm and 5-8pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Parastas Service will be held 7pm Sunday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Goodman will be at the church 10am Monday until the time of the service. Joseph was born in Flint on March 29, 1934, the son of Harry and Julia (Kapture) Goodman. Joe graduated from Atherton High School and after graduation joined the Air Force with training in Georgia and stationed in England. He married Dorothy (Brown) on June 4, 1967. Joe loved fishing in Geralton, Ontario, Canada, hunting and golf. He entertained many with his storytelling. Joe worked at AC Spark Plug for 33 years. He was a lifetime active member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church where he enjoyed roasting lamb for the annual parish festival. He looked forward to the annual get together with his GM and AC retiree friends. Joseph was a loving father and grandfather. Surviving are wife, Dorothy; son, David (Ashley) Goodman; daughter, Deborah (Ralph) Neely; grandchildren, Joe, Sarah, and Devon; brother, John (Rose) Goodman; brother-in-law, Nick Chizewsky; sisters-in-law, Helen Bibilikow and Evanka Elieff; brother-in-law, Phil and wife Barbara Brown; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Regency at Grand Blanc for their special care and Buddy Paul Kruse.
