Joy Collins Brookins

1935 - 2015 Joy Collins Brookins, age 80, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 in Richmond, Texas. Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with visitation from 1:00 to 2:30 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Katy, Texas. Joy was born in Lufkin, Texas on March 6, 1935 to the late Chester B. Collins and Burlie Laverne Jones Collins. Joy graduated from South Park High School and was a former Administrative Assistant at the Texas State MHMR with over 20 years of service. She was a Pastor's wife and co servant with her husband in ministry for 25 years. She attended First Church of the Nazarene in Beaumont and currently worshiping at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Katy, TX. She was a loving wife, mother, nana and friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Christopher Andrew Brookins, a daughter Juli Dawn Brookins and a brother Chuck Collins. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Rev. Robert C. Brookins of Richmond, TX, son Robert C. Brookins, Jr. and his wife Melissa of Katy, TX and daughter Lynnette Golden and her husband Terry of Richmond, TX. Sister-in-law Nancy Besson and her husband Harold of Huntsville, TX. Five grandsons; Gregory Golden and his wife Lisa, Robert Golden and his wife Carrie, Aaron Michael Brookins who is currently serving in the US Navy, Joshua Brookins and his wife Bethany and Jacob Allen Brookins and his wife Erika. As well as two precious great grandchildren, Drew Levi Golden and Ariel Maylee Brookins. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
