Joy Cummings

Mrs. Leta “Joy” Simpson Cummings, age 77, of Bonham, passed away on April 4, 2010 at the Paris HealthCare Center. A private family committal will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Willow Wild Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas. Joy was born on January 6, 1933 in Ravenna, Texas, the daughter of Hubert Simpson and Opal Lambert Simpson. She was a graduate of Ector High School and attended the East Texas State Teachers College. She married Woolston Andrew “Bill” Cummings in New Jersey in 1972 and he preceded her in death on April 13, 1991. Joy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ector and was a manager for a private club and banquet rooms at Holiday Inn in Houston and Dallas. She established the Data Careers, Inc in 1972 and sold her business and retired in 1991. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and camping. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a granddaughter, Brea Spencer in 1999.
