Joy Denise Barbee Oliphant

Joy Denise Barbee Oliphant, 63 years of age, of Mount Ulla, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at her home.

Joy was born November 20, 1952 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Clarence Eugene Barbee and the late Joyce Rachel Cook Reeves.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Friday at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord in officiated by Rev. Tom Whidden.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Davidson Oliphant of Mooresville; sons, Justis Kyle Davidson Oliphant & fiancé Sabrina Hayter of Mooresville, son, Cameron Mitchell Oliphant of Mt. Ulla; daughters, Joyel Elizabeth Barbee Oliphant of Asheville, NC, Allison Renee Oliphant & husband Brent Harrison of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Dale Eugene & wife Lori Sloop Barbee of Concord; granddaughters, Emma Grace Collins, Avery Elizabeth Collins; stepfather, Ken Reeves & wife Marilyn Carpenter Reeves of Kannapolis.

Growing up, Joy attended Concord City Schools, Harding and North Meck High Schools. She had worked at Mooresville Little Folks Preschool early on and the center of her life was being a devoted mother and homemaker.
