Joyce K. Audette, 82, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah (Misch) Surowiec. She was a member of the Peace Corp before becoming a teacher in Woonsocket Schools for thirty-seven years.
She is survived by her children, Jessica Audette and Eric Audette, her brother Thomas Surowiec, and his wife Carolyn.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday December 13th at 10:00 AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Joyce was my first friend when I moved to Woonsocket 74 years ago, & she lived with her family next door to my family. We used to walk to school together. We caught up later again when we both went to URI to become teachers. I last saw her about 10 years ago in a doctor’s office waiting room. We caught up on what was happening in our lives.. My sympathy to her family.

Joyce was a colleague and friend of my mother, Mary Dolan. They taught together at Harris School in Woonsocket and Joyce remained a friend to my mom after retirement. I know my mother thought she was a special person and she enjoyed their friendship immensely. My son was also the beneficiary of your mother's great teaching and care and attention to her students. Deepest sympathy to Joyce's family . I knew Joyce through school and serving on an education related club years ago. I have fond memories of doing arts and crafts projects at her home in Cumberland and visiting her when she was at St. Antoine and I was visiting my mother there also.
