John, I always admired your humor and whimsy, mixed with kindness and friendliness toward others, when I knew you during my relatively short time at New Trier. It was my great fortune over many years to be in groups of which Joyce was a member. Joyce's signature cheerfulness, humor, intelligence and charm was always a presence. From sharing Brussels experiences in the 70's, Mother Bank and Mather Board years and Mahjongg and Book Club most recently, Joyce created a refreshing learning environment by being an inspiring personality.

Ed and I worked together for years at Continental Bank. If ever there was a man and a family who brought a smile to a person's face, Ed and his family deserved great praise and trust. What a beautifully-written obituary! Bix made it all work together.
