My heartfelt sympathy to the Bottum Family. I have many fond memories of working with Ed and knowing all of you. He was the best. Joyce kept him centered - especially during the difficult years at Continental Bank. Your Mom was always upbeat and a pleasure to know. She once called me and said even though Ed was president of the bank, she made him take out the garbage when he came home. It was my great fortune over many years to be in groups of which Joyce was a member. Joyce's signature cheerfulness, humor, intelligence and charm was always a presence. From sharing Brussels experiences in the 70's, Mother Bank and Mather Board years and Mahjongg and Book Club most recently, Joyce created a refreshing learning environment by being an inspiring personality.

Ed and I worked together for years at Continental Bank. If ever there was a man and a family who brought a smile to a person's face, Ed and his family deserved great praise and trust. What a beautifully-written obituary! Bix made it all work together.
