Not sure what to say?

More to say. At our VBHS class of 62 50th Reunion, she personally called me over, remembered me by name, and asked what I had been doing for the past 50 years! Yes, fantastic!

Mrs.Carlton was such a lovely person and a great inspiration to her students. In a rare moment of inspiration I wrote a poem when in her English class at VBHS, and I will never forget when she had me read it to the class. I remember it like yesterday and it still means so much to me today. Joanne Symmes, Class of '61.

The family is in our prayers. We have lots of memories. A very special teacher.

Aunt Joyce you were so loved by your family and friends....we will miss you.

Family is in my thoughts and prayers. Great teacher! Class of 1961.

She was very special. What I learned from her is still very much with me. All my classmates of 1962 respected her dearly.

Joyce Carlton was one of the most gifted, creative educators that we have ever been blessed to have in Indian River County. I feel privileged. to have worked under her supervision. I counted Stewart and Joyce as personal friends after our retirements.

I have very special memories of Mrs. Carlton. She taught an AP class of senior English my senior year (in 1962) and each of us had a Shakespear play assigned to teach. Will never forget Julius Caesar! She also counseled me in writing application letters for college and some of the writing advice she gave me has followed me through my life and career. She and Mr. Carlton were mentors to so many. My condolences are with her family.
