Joyce A. Galya

My heart is broken and I grieve with all of you. Joyce was pychological comfort food, served free at a banquet table. My admiration was enormous as was my love.

Dear Mario and Family,
Joyce's passing saddens me more than I can say, especially 4 years and 1 day after our daughter, Kristy. Joyce was always there for Kristy during chemo or just during a down day. Kristy would always call Joyce when depression set in or overwhelming circumstances came along. She always said, "Joyce can do it all, and I need her to talk me out of this." Joyce always did. Both of us express are deepest sympathy to Mario and Joyce's children. We have only good memories of Joyce. Joyce will be remembered by many people in a fond way for her kindness and all of the good that she did for others.

It is almost exactly a year ago when Joyce's wonderful spirit came into my life. It was my first day of chemo and with God's grace, Joyce was next to me making one of the worst experiences an entertaining day. After that first chemo Joyce and I kept in touch via email and were even able to meet for lunch one day before the treatment started affecting her. We are very sad to lose such a grand lady. Joyce was always there to help us with everything at UM, especially with Citizens Board and all the events. We will miss her terribly.

Our deepest sympathy to Scott, Tracy, Mario & Joyce's family. Joyce’s kindness and cheerful way of celebrating life was phenomenal. A human being whose wisdom was not only part of who she was but what defined her way of living. The few years that I knew Joyce, she was always vigorous, courageous, & energetic woman who never demonstrated weakness to anything. She was a true warrior who fought until the end regardless. I will always love and miss Joyce Galya! I grew close with her over the years of being great friends with her daughter Tracy. She was always easy going and funny. I have grown as a person by having her apart of my life and she will always have a place in my heart! ~

Your warmth, kindness and caring for others will be greatly missed. Even before the diagnosis I admired your great stength, compassion and kindness. My heart goes out to Scott, Tracy and your family.

Joyce was very special to us. We will always remember her for her good heart, strong convictions, kindness to others in need, her passionate love of life and her laughter. She will live on in our hearts and memories and we will miss her terribly.
