McDOUGALL--Joyce. Dr. Joyce McDougall, esteemed member of the New York Freudian Society, died on August 24. She was an intellectual luminary who linked us to French psychoanalysis. We will miss her vitality and psychoanalytic gifts.

My thoughts are with Joyce Mcdougall's family at this sad time; I am sorry for their loss. she will be missed by the therapist community and her friends; here and through out the United States and in Europe.

The beautiful and brilliant, Joyce McDougall was an exceptional character who electrified her psychoanalytic audiences and inspired all those around her. Her teachings were a plea for humanism, tolerance, understanding and compassion. She taught that even if one had a large personality, one could use oneself fully as an analyst without intruding or getting in the patient's way. Mostly, I will remember her good friendship, her profound generosity, constant encouragement, enthusiasm, and love....
