Joyce Marie Neloms-Parks, 70, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022 in Houston, TX. Joyce Marie (Askew) Neloms-Parks was born on March 22, 1952 in Houston, TX. to the late Arguster and Joycie Mae (Hagger) Askew. Joyce attended Elmore High School, class of 1970, where she was a majorette in the marching band, junior varsity cheerleader, and debutante. Joyce inherited a beautiful soprano voice for her mother. Like her mom, she sang in the Community Baptist Church, where she blessed many church services with beautiful solo performances. After graduating high school, Joyce attended nursing school to become a nurse aid. She worked as an aid at several hospitals until becoming too ill to work. Joyce’s entire life was devoted to raising and supporting her children. She was the proud mother of Derrick Askew (Hope), Tiffany Neloms, Chris Neloms, and Roderick Neloms. Loving grandmother of MarShona Thomas-Gibson (Darren), Jasmine Thomas, Alani Askew. Devoted great grandmother of A’Nahya Thomas, Nathan Thomas, Gabrielle Thomas, Juele Gibson, and Yasir Gibson. Proceeding Joyce in death were parents Arguster and Joycie Mae Askew, her brother Thomas Askew (Arvis), and sister Ruby Swan (Teddy). She is survived and will be greatly missed by siblings; Arguster Askew (Vivan), John Askew (Janine), Joshua Askew, Thomasine Daggs, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
