Peters Funeral Home - Cotulla Obituary

Juan Muriel passed away on March 17, 2026, at the age of 80. He was born on April 11, 1945, to Juanita and Fernando Muriel.

Mr. Muriel is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Fernando Muriel Jr., Pedro Muriel, Raul Muriel, Celestino Muriel and Anita Muriel.

Mr. Muriel is survived by his 10 children; sister, Maria Muriel and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He worked at many ranches, working with cattle and horses, he did carpentry and mechanics, had an architect diploma but he was more craftsman, working with his hands, doing leather work and having the expertise, artistry and skill to use up whole hides to create whatever his customers wanted him to make for them, (always remembering Mr. Troy Howard). He would tell stories and jokes making everyone laugh all the time. He had many friends, family, and visitors, and he made time for them all. He broke bread with many, always treated everyone equally with hospitality and greeted everyone that he crossed paths with. He read the Bible from beginning to end and believed in the Holy Trinity in reference to Dios all of the time believed solely in the truth.

His amusement was watching and taking care of his animals, giving away free eggs or a piece or two of meat, his past time was watching music videos, westerns, boxing and receiving and scratching lottery tickets. He enjoyed relaxing around a campfire reminiscing and watching the stars with family and friends, and being very knowledgeable and intellectual he gave advice to all that asked for it, making life easier, much simpler, always being kind, very giving and helpful but never letting down his guard. He was cherished, adored, loved by many and will be very dearly missed.

Love you Ol' Man
