A Life Remembered
Juanita Hazel Watts Delk, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday October 11, 2017.
She was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi to the parents of Wash Miller Watts Sr. and Viola Carroll Watts,
She was baptized at an early age at Bethel AME Church under the leadership of Rev.E.M. Smith.
She grew up in church, and served as Sunday School secretary throughout her high school years.
After graduating from Yazoo City High School, she moved to St. Louis Missouri where she attended Tucker Business College. While there, she met and married her husband Clarence Edward Delk Jr. (deceased). To this union was born one child, Carrolyn Delk Rountree who was her pride and joy.
She was a Ladies Ready to Wear Sales Clerk for Weinberger Garment Co., where she retired. Juanita dressed many "First Ladies" for their church events and a host of brides-to-be and their wedding party. She enjoyed every minute of it.
Preceding her in death is her husband Clarence, three brothers and their wives; Miller Watts (Maggie), Wash M. Watts Jr. (Christine), Rueben E. Watts (Lorraine), and one sister Velma Watts Taylor (James).
Juanita was a charter member of Zeta Sigma Philo, an Affiliate of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. Zeta Sigma Chapter, St. Louis Missouri. She also assisted in organizing the Springfield Illinois chapter. During her tenure, she served in every elected office (except President which she vowed to never do). Also, she chaired a myriad of fund raisers for the organization. In addition, she is credited with writing the National Philo Prayer which is recited at all Philo business meetings at the national, regional, and local level. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling to a variety of National and Regional Conferences, where she met and made lifelong friends, fostering a cherished sisterhood and many fond memories.
She was a member of The Oats Senior Center in University City, Missouri. There she enjoyed hosting fashion shows, and chairing rummage sales.
Juanita moved to Springfield Illinois three years ago in order to be closer to her daughter. She resided at Timberlake Estates Senior Living where she met and enjoyed a host of new friends. She was a faithful member of the bi monthly Bible Study Group, and the weekly Coloring Class. She loved everyone there, and they loved her back. And although she was unable to attend church regularly, she faithfully tithed monthly to Abundant Faith Christian Center and watched her TV ministries daily.
She leaves to mourn her passing, a daughter Carrolyn Delk Rountree (Dana, deceased), one grandson Devin Rountree (Anna), one sister Doris Triplett (Alan, deceased), two special nephews William Taylor (Emma), and Dexter Triplett, along with other nephews, several nieces, a host of cousins, and a number of loving friends.

I have fought the good fight. I have finished this race. I have kept the faith. 2nd Timothy 4-7 and
In my Fathers' house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you says the Lord. John 14:2
