Juanita Sykes Ricks

Chesapeake - Juanita Sykes Ricks, 55, passed away Monday, April 25th in her home in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake. God plucked a rose from this Earthly garden to plant in His Heavenly garden. She was a fighter and her strength was the wind beneath the wings of many.

She was predeceased by her mother, Geneva Scott Sykes and her sister Frances Lynette Reid. Left to cherish her memories are her father, Deacon Warren Sykes; her devoted husband of 32 years, Bobby Eugene Ricks; daughter Carleta (Travon) and son Bartae (Anitra); brother Pendelton L. Sykes (Rosalyn) and sister Wanda G. Outlaw; two grandchildren Geneva and Bartae Jr, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; along with a host of extended sisters, family, and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church South Hill. Interment will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday from 1-5pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.

I want to offer my deepest condolences to the family as you offer such a beautiful flower and soul back to our Heavenly Father. Mrs Juanita will definitely be missed but I know she is celebrating and now in a better place. Prayers to you all .
