Not sure what to say?

Just the mention of her name readily summons the sound of Judith's laughter to mind. I'll always remember her impromptu dancing with Hans Walter Gabler in a hotel lobby at a Joyce conference, a demonstration of her devil-may-care vitality. Witty, generous, perceptive -- and now much missed.

Judith was the shining star of our book group for many years, bringing scholarship, wit, and warmth to our get-togethers. We had lunch together in the restaurant of the National Concert Hall, and she was full of praise for the oranisers of the Joyce conference. She invited me to stay with her at her home in California. Judith was a cherished friend for more than 50 years whom I admired and enjoyed immensely. Steven and I will miss the sparkle and fun she brought to our lives.
