CLOSED-Harvey Family Funeral Home Obituary

Born August 21, 1939 in Sioux City, IA; died December 20, 2021 in Edmonds, WA.

Judith is survived by her daughter Maria Beyer and two sons, Joseph Beyer and Matthew Beyer along with three grandchildren by Matthew: Benjamin, Hannah and Henry Beyer.

After being born to John and Helen Kriss in Sioux City, IA, the Kriss family moved to Seattle, WA where Judy attended a number of Catholic schools resulting in her graduation from Holy Names Academy.

Judy was a life-long learner and reader. She obtained three degrees from Seattle University.

Judy taught school in San Jose, CA, Fairbanks, AK and the Seattle area before marrying George Beyer and becoming a full-time mother. Her children and their adventures definitely made staying home a full-time job! Judy raised her three children in their home in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood. Where they attended Blessed Sacrament church. Remembering her teaching days in San Jose and Fairbanks and raising her children always brought a smile to her face.

Judy returned to work at the University Congregational Church in the early 1980’s and ended her working career at the University of Washington’s Child Developmental Medical Research Center.

Judy’s inquisitive mind, kind heart, ready smile and great sense of humor will be dearly missed.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 14th at 11am at

Blessed Sacrament

5050 8th Ave NE, Seattle 98105

Not sure what to say?

My sympathy to Maria and her brothers at the loss of their mother, Judy.
I worked with Judy at the CHDD, Univ of Washington for all the years she was there. After her retirement, I still saw her occasionally or gave her a call.
Judy worked in the administrative office, so there were always students, faculty and other staff coming into her office, which was always open. And they almost always were asking for information, making a request, or sharing their various frustrations. But...

I lost touch with Judy in the past few years, but she was never far from my thoughts. Judy was our secretary at the UW, and at times I felt she was the most insightful person in the department. Her good humor, and attachment to those she cared for kept my spirts high in tough times. After her retirement, I loved visiting with her in her condo, and at my house, often with Maria. I so wish I could have one more visit to laugh, and talk with Judy, and to enjoy the company of this dear person....

My heart sank so deeply when I had been told that my dear friend, Judy, had passed away on December 20th.
Judy and I met at our Cursillo over 40 years ago. We became "immediate friends" there and were truly kindred spirits in many ways. We had kept up our friendship through the years.
She was truly a gift from God to me and I shall forever treasure my memories of Judy.
My heart and prayers are with her children, grandchildren and all of her family members.
With my...
