Judith Looney Obituary

Beloved wife, mother, grand-mother, sister, aunt and friend departed this life surrounded by family on September 14, 2015, in Everett, Wash. Judith, born October 1, 1942, to Carl and Ruth Berg, and wife to John (Jack) Looney for nearly 49 years, lived a blessed life. She graduated from Ballard High School in 1961, attended Central Washington and Everett Community College studying home economics before choosing a career in medical assistance to an oral surgeon. Motherhood and enriching the life of her family became her focus for many years during frequent relocations including CA, TX, NJ, MO, NE and IA settling new homes as the supporting wife in advancing the career of her railroad executive husband. She retired to Seattle area in 1999 to be close to family and enjoyed 16 years of retirement in the Everett and Ocean Shores, Wash. area. She enjoyed crafting, cooking, painting, playing the accordion, travel, racquetball, camping and gardening. She also served on many local committees in schools, parishes, and community organizations including the Junior League in NJ and Variety Club of Iowa, American Cancer Society Relay For Life; Bothell Sons of Norway, St. Michael's Parish School and others. As her children grew she returned to the work force as a medical assistant, craft entrepreneur, and later Director for Pampered Chef Sales. She is survived by John, her loving husband; sons, Andy Looney (Leanne) of Auburn, Wash., Ken Looney of Everett, Wash., Bob Looney (Kelly) of Lake Oswego, Ore., and daughter Sheilah Looney of Snohomish, Wash., brother Melvin Berg (Dianna) of Kirkland, Wash. sister Karen Day (Charlie) of Mill Creek, Wash.; and eight grandchildren: Alyson and Jack Looney, Ethan, Quinn, Seth, and Bryce Looney, Madilyn and Meghan Patridge. Judith will be dearly missed by her family. Her family and her faith were her most valued treasures in life. A Funeral Mass celebrating Judith's life will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1512 Pine Ave., Snohomish, WA 98290 with reception to follow. It is a sad time for me. I miss my sister and loved her more than ever. We were so close, did so much together or for each other... there are hard times ahead for many of us. I really feel for all the Looney family. She was always trying to help everyone out and do the best she could. The memories of her will always be in my heart and I will think of her often. Sometimes I'll laugh, sometimes I'll cry.

What a trip we had to Hostfest in 2007. We couldn't keep up with Judi in the Scandinavian atmosphere in Minot.

Dear Looney Family,

We are so sorry to hear of Judi's passing. We have many fond memories of Judi from the neighborhood on Morelle Road. In particular, her playing the accordion and leading Christmas Carols at our house. Her craft sale was a favorite also. I am sure she will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Blessings to you,

Carol and Dan Sullivan, Cedar Rapids, IA
