Judy Gray Lowry Adams

Judy Gray Lowry Adams, 66, of Waynesboro, died on Friday, March 11, 2011, at her residence.

She was born on April 29, 1944, in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of Walter Warren Lowry and Marjorie Jones Lowry.

She worked 18 years with Belk, formerly Leggett's.

Mrs. Adams was an avid fan of VCU basketball. In addition, she loved to read, knit, and spend time outdoors and fishing with her husband at their home in Canaan Valley, West Virginia. Most recently, she enjoyed relaxing on her porch in Nags Head, North Carolina. As she traveled, she loved to go "antiquing" and thrift store shopping.

Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and "Ju Ju" loved to watch them in their many sporting activities.

Mrs. Adams was a true cat lover, leaving behind her special pet, "Simon".

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Meade Adams Sr.; her brother, Walter W. Lowry Jr.; and her mother-in-law, Lillian W. Adams.

Left to cherish her memories are her son, Carl M. Adams Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Greenville; her daughter, Susan A. Gray and her husband, Tim, of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Ellie B. Adams, Sadie G. Adams, Seth T. Gray, and Zachary M. Adams; and her dear special Bingo friend, Jennifer Deffenbaugh.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2011, at McDow Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m.Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Augusta Memorial Park.
