Hillside Funeral Service Obituary

Mrs. Judy Lee Baxter, aged 70, a resident of Washington, NC, died at home in hospice care on Thursday, May 7, 2015 of renal failure after a brave battle with cancer. Judy was born in Uniontown, PA in 1944 and graduated from Uniontown High School.

She married in 1962 and moved to Alexandria, VA, where she raised her children. In 1981, she married Denis N. Baxter. They moved to Washington, NC, in 1995. A former food service director for Aramark at the Pentagon, Judy worked as a Dietitian for Ridgewood Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center until her retirement in 2011.

In addition to her loving husband Denis, Judy is survived by her children: Randy (Kim) Baxter; Valette (Alex) Piper-Bledsoe; Abby Piper Rutledge; Nate Piper; and Greg (Vickie) Baxter. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Ryan and Matthew Baxter; Jacob, Charlie and Amelia Piper-Bledsoe; Amy and David Rutledge; Ellie Piper and Ein Herron; and Nicholas Baxter and Anthony Scaramella; and one great-grandson, Phoenix Warner. She is also survived by her brother, Edward (Judy) Romesburg, of Lemont Furnace, PA.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebekah Piper and her parents, Charles Edward and Eleanor Miller Romesburg.

So many people remember Judy for her generous, friendly nature?she never met a person she couldn?t talk to and connect with. Even during her last hospital stay, she had the nurses laughing and sharing stories. She was an amazing wife, the best mother, a wonderful sister, and a true friend.

The family will receive friends and family at Hillside Funeral Service from 1 to 2 pm on Monday, May 11, 2015, with the Memorial service being held afterwards at 2pm, officiated by Rev. Danny Allen. A catered reception will be held at the home immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd Floor, Bethesda, MD 20814.

Mrs. Baxter was a mom to own children and their friends. She certainly helped raise me during those "fun" teen years. Rest in peace.

May the good Lord keep and guide you during this sorrowful time. Your Mom will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Faye Alligood of Ridgewood

Judy was a wonderful person. We worked together for several years at Ridgewood and in that time I discovered her easy going nature, hilarious humor, intimate conversations and most of all that she cared.

She will be greatly missed.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Valette, Nate ,Randy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom shines through your love of family, compassion, respectfulness, and courage. She did a great job and you are passing it along. There is no blessing greater. Love to all.
