Judy Lynn Keaton Hughes of Looneyville, West Virginia passed away at 76 years old on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Roane General Hospital after a short illness.
She was born at Newton, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Harley Keaton and Zona Chapman Keaton Hickman.
Judy enjoyed crocheting, reading, a good meal and spending time with her family.
She retired as a cook from Cleveland Medical Hospital, Shelby, North Carolina and returned to West Virginia when her grandchildren were born.
She is survived by two daughters, Lora (Scott) Matheney of Spencer, West Virginia and Julie Hughes (Philip Shamblin) of Looneyville, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Parker, Paidyn, Lila and Brooklyn; one sister, whom she dearly enjoyed talking to almost daily, Mary (Avon) Hicks of North Canton, Ohio; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Velora Lane, Vada White, Jenivee Smith, Orva (Dee) Graves and Virginia Marion; four brothers, Virgil, Vandle, Paul and Bobby Keaton.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026, at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Danny Whited officiating. Burial will be in Keaton Cemetery, Big Sandy Road, Left Hand, West Virginia.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
