Julia Grace Downs

Julia "Judy" Grace Downs, 80, of Kokomo, passed away at 8:49 AM Tuesday August 4, 2015 at Community Howard Regional Health. Born August 19, 1934 in New Castle, Indiana she was the daughter of the late Ralph C. Tarkington and Mary Florance (Myers) Tarkington. She was a 1952 graduate of Northwestern High School. She was formerly married to Glendale Downs for 20 years. She was employed with C.A.M. and the Adult Day Center for over 10 years. She enjoyed doing puzzles and playing games, helping people, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was a former member of First Baptist Church of Greentown.
Survivors include two sons Charles Mark (Lisa) Downs and Jeffery L. Downs, both of Kokomo; one daughter Pamela (Tom) Shelton of Kempton; three brothers James Francis (Joan) Tarkington of Frankfort, Rodger Lee (Wanda) Tarkington of Frankfort, and William Benjamin (Evelyn) Tarkington of Boswell; grandchildren Jeremy (Leslie) Downs, Mistie Jinks, Heather (Toby) Jones, Shannon Shelton (boyfriend Kyle Brust), Tiffany Reanae (Rob) Perisho, Ryan Nicholas Downs; great grandchildren Paiten, Hadley, Lainee, Lymree, Jeffrey, Lauren, Elijah, Kaelyn, Lily, Robbie, Brielle, Braden, Caden, James, and Matthew. There are also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband, and one daughter Glenda Sue Downs.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday August 8, 2015 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Lynn Brust will officiate. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Friday at the mortuary.
