Julia E. Ghahramani

1994 - 2021

It is with grieving hearts, and in stunned disbelief, that we share with a world that she loved so much the news of the passing of our most precious daughter and the most loving of sisters, Julia Elizabeth Ghahramani.
Julia passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2021, at the age of 26, with a life ahead of her, and a lifetime of accomplishments already behind. Born on May 24, 1994 in New York City's Mt. Sinai Hospital, Julia spent her childhood in Greenwich, Connecticut, the eldest child of Lily Ann Marden and Sassan Ghahramani, although from the moment she could talk it was never clear who was teaching whom.
In 2012 Julia moved to her beloved New York City, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Columbia College in 2016 and from Columbia Law School in 2020, where her crowning moment was meeting with her hero, the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, as a member of the Columbia Law Review. She had only just embarked on what was to be a brilliant career at the law firm of Akin Gump, where in a few brief months she touched the lives of her colleagues like she did with every person she would meet.
Vivacious, fun, full of laughter and love, and brilliant beyond words, Julia had a heart that was so large and deep with empathy it would always seek to protect the underdog and others in need, from those middle school days when she decided to represent her fellow sixth graders the teacher was forgetting to call on, to her last week on earth where she took time every day to check in on her parents, grandmothers, cousins, and friends.
Julia was the apple of her parents' eyes and a shining star to her twin siblings Kimberly and Gregory Ghahramani, to her aunts, uncles, cousins, grandmothers, and all the friends and family she touched in her brief years on this earth. Sadly, she left us all far too soon.
A memorial for Julia will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, tentatively scheduled from 12:00 to 3:00 pm, in Greenwich, CT. Family, friends, colleagues and loved ones who wish to remember together and celebrate her life may find details once finalized on leopgallaghergreenwich.com.
