Julia Mary Gulas “Julie”
Frankenmuth, MI formerly of Warren, MI

Passed away peacefully Friday, June 5, 2020 at her home; age 88 years. Julia was born on September 1, 1931 in Detroit, MI to the late Michael and Mary Lubeck. She was predeceased by her sister Irene (Steve) Rosneck. Julie graduated St. Cyril High School (Detroit) in 1949 in one of the first graduating classes. For 41 years, she was married to Carl Gulas; he predeceased her in April 1993. Initially a homemaker raising 5 children, she was employed by Woodall Enterprises for 20+ years until her retirement. Julie and Carl were co-owners of the Champagne Lounge in Detroit, MI. For more than 20 years, summers were devoted to boating around the Detroit River and Lake St Clair with 2 of the 3 boats being her namesake. Julie was interested in politics and helped during elections as a poll worker for many years. A passionate Detroit Tigers fan, she also enjoyed going to the theater, dining out, traveling, crafting and participating in dance and exercise classes. Later in life she adopted her first dog, a big yellow lab named Caesar who was her walking companion. A lifelong Catholic, Julie attended several different churches and was a member for many years of St. Martin de Porres in Warren, MI.

Surviving are her 5 children Diane (Dick) Benson of Frankenmuth, MI, Carl Gulas of Mountain View, CA, Michael (Charlene) Gulas of Macomb, MI, Linda (Jim) Matthews of Lexington, MI, John (Laura) Gulas of Acworth, GA; grandchildren Scott (Alyssa) Benson, Holly (J.C.) Not sure what to say?

My condolences to you Dick & Diane, and all the rest of the family. Sounds like Julie had a pretty fabulous life down there during the good ole days in the D.
May she continue that beautiful life with all her long missed loved ones in heaven.
Hugs -
Alissa Hetzner

On behalf of the Capuchin brothers, I offer my deepest sympathies on the passing of Julie. It is truly humbling to receive memorial donations in honor of Julie's life. Please be assured of the brother's prayers for the entire Gulas family during this great time of grief. May perpetual light shine upon Julie.
