ROSS, Julia M. - Of Davison, age 86, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, Father Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Those desiring may make contributions to Arrowhead Vets Club, Food Bank of Eastern Michigan or American Heart Association. Visitation 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Scripture Service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Ross will be at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the Mass. Mrs. Ross was born in Flint, Michigan on May 17, 1924, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Zbyrad, and was a resident of the Flint area until moving to Davison. She married Lester Ross on April 28, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1998. She was a 1943 graduate of Flint Central High School. She was a member of Arrowhead Vets Club, Flint Slovene Croatian Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2460, Polish Legion of American Vets #8, VFW Auxiliary Post #4087, Davison, Michigan, Association of Cooties Auxiliary, Hurley Hospital Auxiliary, previously Genesys Hospital Auxiliary and Lakeland Hospital Auxiliary. She was quick witted and enjoyed life to the fullest. Julia was a great cook and baker, enjoyed playing cards and putting puzzles together, and attended daily Mass. Mrs. Ross was employed by AC Spark Plug Division for 30.9 years, retiring in 1975 and was a member of UAW Local # 651. Surviving are two daughters, Karen (John) Gildner of Flint, Debra Ross and fiance' Frank Ford; five grandchildren: Michael (Liz), Matthew, Shane (Brian), Daniel (Erin) and Jon (Monica); 14 great-grandchildren: Kirsten, Daniel, Jonathan, Thomas, Joseph, Jenelle, Owen, Samuel, Soren, Selah, Caleb, Silas, Elena and Addison; sister-in-law, Audrey Caverly of Flint; brother-in-law, Clifford Ross of Interlachen, Florida; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her five sisters, two brothers and two sisters-in-law. Your condolences may be shared with the family at

Julia will forever be in my thoughts. I treasure the recipes I have gotten from her throughout the years. I can not imagine fixing a family dinner without having at least one of Julia's recipes included! I will miss her sweet gentle spirit.
