Julia Serpico, 99, of Whiting passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, five days short of her 100 birthday. She was born in Trenton where she had resided for most of her life before moving to Whiting in 2003.
Julia retired from Switlick Parachute Company where she worked as a seamstress and later as a supervisor. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception for many years. Julia enjoyed cooking and was known for her homemade macaroni, soups, and treats. She enjoyed traveling and trying her luck at the casinos in Atlantic City and Parx. Above all, Julia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and loved spending time with her family.
Daughter of the late John and Mary Sczenci, she was predeceased by her husband, John Serpico ; her son-in-law Richard Forker; her three brothers, George, Frank and John and two sisters, Helen Connell and Margaret Tonti. Julia is survived by her children, Rose Marie Zigenfus and her husband, Bob of Jenson Beach, Fl, Mary Ann Forker of Whiting and Pasquale and Mary Jo Serpico of Trenton; her grandchildren, Robin Kent and her husband, Stephen, Robert Zigenfus Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, Harry Forker and his wife, Patricia, Sheri Lynn Forker, Jane Pastore, John Serpico and Karla Ritter and her husband, Daniel; her great grandchildren, Jacob, Katelyn, Victoria, Harry, Sarah, Sakar, Levloher, Amanda, Anthony, Michelle and Nichole and one on the way; her great great grandson, Richard Harry; a special nephew, Richard along with many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday from 6-8pm and Saturday, 9:30-10:30 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am on Saturday, August 12th at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Cancer Center, P.O. Box 5028, Hagerstown, MD or www.mskcc.org

P.J., MaryJo and Family, We are so very sorry for the loss of your Mother Julie. She was a wonderful "little" lady and She will most definitely be missed by all who Loved Her. We know She is looking down on us right now gleaming from ear to ear, for after all, She has the best seat in the house! May She be happy and content as She begins Her NEW life in Heaven with God.
