Julia Wilson Starke joined her parents, Kit and Jack Wilson, and her grandmothers, Julia Wilson and Christie McLeod, in spirit on September 12, 2018. Julia was born on January 15, 1962 in Durham, North Carolina and was the beloved middle sister to her older sister, Katharine, and younger brother, John.

Julia was a lifelong creative and artist, making bodies of work with anything she could get her hands on: wax, crayons, cd's, glass, fabric, moss, caulk, wood, and so much more. She loved painting people, and her favorite subjects were her five children. Julia attended the University of Alabama and pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma where she met many of her lifelong friends and the loving father to her children, Trey. She was known for her creativity, deep spirituality, sense of humor, free spirit, natural beauty, and her big heart.

She is survived by her children, Julia Ann (30), Lundy (28), Bo (24), Katharine (21), and Mary Neill (19); their father, Trey Starke; her sister, Katharine and her brother, John; her aunt, Neill; and her nieces and nephews, Christie, Kassie, Jack and Sam.

Julia was grateful to those who loved and supported her throughout the years. If you would like to honor her life, please consider donating to Alabama Shakespeare Festival in lieu of flowers:

Julia found great joy in running with her Springer Spaniel on ASF's beautiful grounds and would be touched to know that she was being honored in this special way.

Alternatively, you can donate to https://arttherapy.org/donate/ to support trauma recovery through the arts.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to the family for words of condolence and support during this difficult time.

Not sure what to say?

Katharine, John, and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I went to Junior High and High School with Julia. I remember spending so many fun times with her at the Signal Mountain pool, at my house, and at your house. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I'm so heart struck and saddened to hear of this precious girl's passing. Her older sister Katharine and I cheered together in High School then I got to know Julia as well. I named my daughter after her sister Katharine...for such awe, beauty, kindness and wonder. All to say, have lost touch over the years but always my favorite people to remember and smile. Prayers for the family... so so sorry to hear.

I'm so sad hearing about Julia's passing. I always thought she was so beautiful and could always make me laugh. Please know you her family members are in my prayers!

Julia lived behind me on Signal Mountain and was one of my close friends through school. She was a beautiful person, inside and out and i treasured our friendship. As happens often as adults we got busy with our separate lives and only communicated through Christmas, cards and occasional letters. I still have all those cards with each of you children's on the front. I am so sad at her passing, but will cherish each memory we made along the way. I also have a drawing she did for me in high...

I have so many wonderful memories of your mother growing up on Signal Mountain. Spent a lot of time at your grand parents home. We were junior high and high school friends. Sooo many good times. I remember when we would go on walks, Julia would always walk right next to me and we would giggle and I would push her away a little. We lost touch after high school, but I remember her fondly. Praying for Gods comfort to you and all your family. Life is difficult to understand this side of heaven....

Such sweet memories of Julia and her parents on Signal Mountain, TN. Our love goes out to the family.

My love, thoughts and prayers are with you all-- Trey, Julia Ann, Lundy, Bo, Katharine, Mary Neill and family. I hope you each find comfort that Julia's soul is at rest and in the comfort of her loved ones in the life after.

Our hearts and prayers are with the whole Starke family. Bless you all.

Much love and prayers for all of Julia's family !! May the Lord comfort each of you ! Such great memories of Julia from Jr high , high school and the kappa house . ❤❤
