I went to church at Durham Memorial with Julie. We went on church retreats and sang together in the choir. She was so funny and such a great friend. I know she will be missed by many people whose lives she touched over the years.

When I moved down to Charlotte in 1970 as a 10 years old, I thought that my world would end. Little did I know that my world would change for the better and that I would meet Julie. Who knew that we would end up being best friends for 40 years! Even though I have lived in Illinois for over 30 of those years, Julie and I had remained close, distance is never a problem with people who care about one another!
I'm really going to miss my best friend

Julie & I grew up in the same neighborhood, good old Dilworth! She was such a great friend! We went to girl scouts together and had such good times together! Her house was always the 'fun' place to be! We did a lot of riding bikes and kicking around the neighborhood together. She was always laughing and being silly! I will always remember her as a person who would lift my spirits and find the bright side of everything! I am sad to hear she is gone and know her family will miss her bright spirit! May she stay in our hearts forever!

I remember meeting Julie when it was announced that she and my friend Geoff were tying the knot. Wow, what a catch, I thought, and I wasn't the only person to think that, including, of course, her husband-to-be.
Over the next few years, I came to know Julie as being a kind and loving person who was always smiling and cheerful every time I saw her. Geoff did pretty well for himself.
I lost touch with the Walpoles over the years, as sometimes happens in human relationships, and was stunned to hear from a mutual friend that Julie was in dire straits.
Julie is certainly with the angels now, and in a much better place; nonetheless, you will be missed here, Julie. You were one of the good ones.
