Julia was one of my best friends; along with Lena Wells Crouch and Jean Underwood Kloess. Julia and I lived next door to each other and that made our bond so special. We were in and out of each others homes and sometimes got into a little trouble. She always had great ideas for fun things to do. Her imagination led to her style of teaching and leading as a school principal. Our 90 years of friendship will always be cherished. Her lifelong friend; Jean Dunlap Preston

Julie was my neighbor for 9 years. Her family was of immense help to me when my husband. I could constantly depend on one of her daughters to babysit for me. She called me to substitute at McDonnell school. After I moved from the neighborhood, we remained friends. She helped me get teaching jobs. What whole I ever have done without Julie and her family.
