Julie Aydelotte has always been the best mother any child could ask for, though she left behind two children, Tyler (20) and Alexis (18). Born in 1958 in Oakland, CA, Julie and her brother Jeff grew up listening to the Grateful Dead and spending summers on Lopez Island. She knew how to cause...

Did Julie go to the Bush School? She has the same name as one of my best friends in high school. Don’t remember clearly if we went to the same school. She was a beautiful blond & had a little brother. I think they live in The Highlands. She was the best friend anyone could have. I don’t remember what happened. Maybe she moved. This was about 1975.

To Julie's family and friends I would like to extend our condolences on your loss. I knew Julie through Whatcom Literacy Council, where she was a volunteer tutor for several months. While I only met her a couple of times, she was someone who made a big and positive impression. We are so grateful for her contributions to our program. What a lovely woman.
Sincerely,
Rachel Myers & Whatcom Literacy Council staff

Julie was my one and only mentor and I feel so lucky to have known her. During my HR career with Icicle in Seward, Julie was so solid. If ever I had a question, dumb or not, she answered it, told me I was doing a great job, shared a story or two, laughed and then sent me on my way. Even after Icicle I would call her to pick her brain if I had a sticky HR situation. She would think it through, give her input, and always wish me luck with "that one" and then we would end up laughing. ...

To Julie's family--especially Jeff, Cathy and the kids--what can I say? I found out about Julie's passing the night of Don Giles' retirement party and was saddened to the point that it took several days to sink in ...thus this late posting. Julie was a good friend and a great help to me during our time at Icicle Seafoods together. HR Managers and Vessel Managers (or Skippers for that matter) don't always see eye to eye much of the time. It's kind of a "policy verses practicality" dance that...

I met Julie in 1977, my freshman year at Western. We were on the very first women's crew team together - the very first year the school had a club team. We shared a quad in Gamma. Julie was remarkable - she not only was on "flying Squad" for the 24 hour crisis line (at age 19), but was full of rowdiness Supreme. She studied hard, played hard and will always be one of my biggest heroes. I will never, ever, ever forget Fat Tuesday in Seattle 1979 and the tricycle escapade. Alexis and...

One spring day in the early 80's Jon Allison and I tried our best to burn down the Franklin Street house in Bellingham. Homemade french fries quickly devolved into a growing blaze in the kitchen. While Jon and I stood there watching our creation, Julie calmly came down the stairs, got out baking soda and smothered the kitchen - and the flames. From then on, we endearingly and lovingly always called her "Mom."
Rest in peace, Julie. I will miss your warm smile and quick wit.

I loved you Julie. You were a great mother and a good friend. I will miss our times together. I'm so sorry we did not get to take our train trip across Vancouver Island together.
I will not forget your sharp humor and your love of a good time.
I miss you.
