I knew Julie best in the early and mid 70's when the Blackmuns lived in Chicago, and her son Scott and I became (and remain) great friends. She was an ever kind and gentle presence in those years as all of us came of age, and she set a great example for us all in how to be a loving and guiding parent. Sleepovers at the Blackmun house were always the best. I am saying a prayer for her and for all of her family

Julie was a sweet and special lady. I met her through her granddaughter Grace, and she and my mom became friends. I'm saddened to hear of her passing, as I will miss her smile, laugh, and kindness. My love goes out to Grace and the rest of the family. Annette (and Joyce).

Aunt Julie was one of a kind and always so much fun. She always had a smile and kind encouraging word. I visited Dodie and Trisha in Chicago and she was so much fun, making special treats and taking us to all the fun places. When I was in college and joined my sorority "pickers band" I called her to tell me how to play the gut bucket".
