Julie A. Rittenhouse

I first met Julie in Detroit when she was involved with the Jesuit Volunteers. I was living on 20th Street with the Jesuits, as I was a novice volunteering in the soup kitchen. They organized a birthday party for me, and Julie had made the carrot cake for me! I believe that it was the first time in my life that I had tasted carrot cake, and I think of Julie every time that I have it. It is still my favorite. Goodbye my sweet cousin. I will never forget the summer we got to spend together in Kingwood. You were a kind, thoughtful and hard-working person and will be missed. Eternal rest grant unto Julie, Oh Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and all the souls of the faithfully departed, by the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

Dear Julie, I feel so blessed to have met and worked with you. I will miss your friendship and your expertise. Your accomplishments are amazing. You are gone far too soon. Sending prayers to you and the entire Rittenhouse family.

Julie personified the best of community and public service throughout her lifetime. As a colleague at the Levin College , and extensive accomplishments in her career and through her volunteerism , she made Cleveland and our world a better place. Pat and David Sweet

Julie was a wonderful colleague - seeing her in campus always lighted my day. My thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.

I never got to know Ms. Rittenhouse, but based on these comments and the statement by Dr. Laura Bloomberg, she seemed amazing community member who had a passion to help people.

My condolences to the Rittenhouse Family. Julie was such a lovely lady. So poised, elegant, sophisticated with a funny side. She certainly left a lasting impression if you met her.

Broke my heart to learn of Julie´s passing. It´s been years since our paths crossed but her early influence on me stays with me today. Her kindness, gentle spirit and deep commitment to lifting those in need of assistance but doing so while listening and always with integrity and respect. My prayers to her family and friends. May she rest peaceful in the company of those that have gone before her.
