Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home - Anoka Obituary

Julie A. Wise (nee Hoyt), age 88, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, passed away April 13, 2025, with her step-son, Brad, blessed to be at her side when she was called home to be with the Lord.

Julie was born May 25th, 1936, and raised in Osseo, Minnesota, graduating from Osseo High in 1954. She was the first daughter of Margaret and Dwight Hoyt.

Julie took an indirect route to true happiness, which waited until she met and fell in love with Charles Wise. They married in 1971 and became deeply devoted partners in life. Julie also gained four stepchildren from her marriage to Charles and made it part of her purpose to mentor and mother with wisdom and empathy.  Sadly, Julie’s joy in life was prematurely rocked by the sudden and unexpected death of Charles on their wedding anniversary in 1992. In the aftermath, she did her best to be resilient and continued to work, volunteer (especially at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka and the Coon Rapids Senior Center), and be an active grandmother for as long as she was physically able. Meanwhile, she continued to grow in her Christian faith. Along the way she had the good fortune to meet develop a special relationship with Norb Glauvitz. Her closeness to Norb (and his daughters) seemed to fill a void in her heart until his passing in 2008.

Remaining to cherish Julie’s memory are her sister, Dee (Cy) Esias of Waimanalo Hawaii, her brother-in-law, Jerry Finnamore of Plymouth, MN, her step-children, Sue (Johnathan) Smith of New Port Richey FL, Bob (Kathy) Wise of Placida FL, Melanie (Dan) Ackerman of Columbia SD and Brad (Kristin) Wise of Andover, MN, her nieces, Tiffany, Donna and Denae, and her nephews, Dwight, Hoyt and Devin, and her God-daughter, Cindy Arle of Eagan, MN. She had nine grandchildren; Corey, Justine, Tanya, Amos, Laura, Samantha, Connor, Haili and Everett, along with many great grandchildren. She was also blessed to have hadfriends and other family too numerous to name that were especially dear to her.

Preceding Julie in death are Charles, Norb, and her sister, Gale Finnamore.

Visitation will be Monday, April 28th at 1 pm with a service to follow at 2 pm. The visitation and service will take place at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Ave, Anoka, MN.  On Tuesday, April 29th, Julie will be buried alongside her beloved husband, Charles, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
