I met Dr. Afolabi when he arrived at Obafemi Awolowo University in the late 80s. Although he was much older than most of us he related with us as equals. Fondly called 'Dr Dr', he never forgot any of the friends he made at Ife after relocating to the US. He kept in touch with everyone and showered them with gifts. He had something for everyone, no matter how small. He was a true friend indeed. His ready smiles, gentle mien and readiness to assist anyone, who may be in need, has no parallel....

To the Afolabi Family,

My heart is sadden, I just heard of the passing of Dr. Afolabi. He touched my life and I am blessed to have known him. He was a brillant Teacher with a heart of gold. I didn't get the chance to say, good-bye, but he will forever live in my heart and soul,thanks Doc.

sometimes we weep for a loved one not because we loved them so dearly but sometimes its about guilt. Guilt of not saying how much you loved them, guilt of not saying thanks for everything you have achieved through them...
I wish i could rewind time and tell you myself rather than writing here, there is no words in me to describe your fatherly love but i do know that whereever you are and whom ever you are with already knows that in the other world, we did miss a great dad.
