Not sure what to say?

I miss Julius' wonderful smile and delightful sense of humor. His prodigious knowledge of so many areas of interest were incredible and a challenge to keep up with. He has left a beacon of caring and concert to follow.

What a great idea to remember what Jay has meant to all of us who knew him and to the many who didn't have the pleasure but who have unknowingly benefited from all the wonderful work he did. We are all richer for it. The memories of his wonderful smile and deep knowledge brings joy to my day.

Julius was a prince. Smart, thoughtful, helpful, interesting, a warm and engaging friend. He was interested in everything and everybody, and loved to party. He would be the first to arrive and the last the leave. Incredible stamina and unnaturally good health. And a great story teller. I am proud and lucky to have had him as a friend. He was greatly loved and is greatly missed. Rest in peace dear Julius, you were a treasure; one of a kind, and a real sweetie with a big brain and a bigger heart.

Julius had an inspiring zest for life and a passion for the environment. He touched many lives and inspired many of us into action as well. He is another of the people who we should try to emulate.

Julius stands out as one of Alaska's visionary trail-blazers and an example of a life, well-lived. Thank you Julius for sharing your gifts and shining your light. The world is a better place because of you. Thank you to his children and grandchildren for sharing your father/grandfather. You were his inspiration.

He could tell you all about salmon and their life cycles.

So sorry to hear that Jay died. I remembered him from St Mary's Episcopal Church.

Serving on the Anchorage Waterways Council Board in the 80s and 90s with Julius was simply insiring. I was so impressed with how he used his passion and knowledge to effectively advocate for our local creeks and wetlands he could not have been a better mentor. I will always cherish the long friendship we had and the times when we took walks along Chester Creek and Westchester Lagoon Julius never stopped sharing his love for the waterways he cared for. My sympathies to Julius's family. He...

What an absolutely incredible person and he left us with a wonderful example of how we should live our lives purposely but with great kindness and caring. We will miss him!
