Oakland June Mary Prussen Hansen, 79, of Old Belgrade Ave., died Monday, May 28, 2007 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville. She was born on Christmas Day in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was raised in Richmond Hill, Queens, N.Y. She was the daughter of Frederick and Juliette (Picher) Prussen. Mrs. Hansen had attended the New York University and received her certified nurses aide certificate. She had been an Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Brinkmann Instruments in New York. She had spent her childhood summers at Snow Pond, her ''happy place''. She was an active member of the veterans ''Rolling Thunder'' Organization. In 1992 she worked as a District Coordinator for Ross Perot's campaign and United We Stand. She enjoyed hot air balooning and rafting on the Colorado River. She had a passion for the POW-MIA issue and was an activist for the cause. She lived in the Colorado Rocky Mountains for the last six years before returning to her beloved Maine in July of 2006. She was the greatest Mom loved by her three sons and daughter, Robert and Glenn Hansen both of Long Island, N.Y. and Gary Hansen of Oakland and Lynn Hansen of Oakland; a daughter-in-law, Jill Hansen of Oakland; an adopted son, Peter Daly of Long Island, N.Y. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Notre Dame Church, 112 Silver St., Waterville. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove St., Waterville.
