Among the most wonderful women I've known, "Miss Zachow" was instrumental in inspiring my own career in music. Noting my talent and keen interest at G.D. Jones, she asked one day in ca. '59 or '60 "Do you like baritones and basses?!" I had no real idea what they were but said enthusiastically "Oh, yes!", and she arranged to take me to hear Giorgio Tozzi at the Wausau Concert Series. Many of us at Thomas Jefferson elementary school Loved Mrs. Paul! (Especially 5th graders!) She was always smiling and brought joy to our classrooms!

I had the privilege of visiting June once per week for 12 years, for piano lessons. I marveled at how she could easily play a piece that would take me weeks to learn. She was a wonderful and patient teacher, and I learned much more than music from her. She was a kind, quiet and gentle soul. She will be missed.

Mrs. Paul was my first music teacher at Thomas Jefferson Elementary. She encouraged my love for music and gave confidence to a 5th grader struggling to find her way. Thank you, Mrs. Paul. I'm still following in your footsteps! I'll sing with you in Heaven's Choir one day!! -Alice deJong
