June Ann (Cowie) Sherman, 76, of 4 Columbia St. Adams, died Wednesday afternoon, March 25th, at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center. She was born in Mt. Kisco, New York on June 17, 1932, daughter of the late John R. and Florence M. (Jackson) Cowie. She came to this area as a child with her family, and attended schools in Cheshire. She graduated from the former Adams High School in 1950. Mrs. Sherman was currently working for Elder Services of Berkshire County in their Foster Grandparent Program. Earlier, she had worked as a teacher for 25 years for the Head Start program in Williamstown, and had also worked for several years at the Department of Transitional Assistance in North Adams. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Adams. She especially enjoyed working with children. She is survived by a son, Bruce A. Sherman, and his fiancee', Cynthia Gagne, of Adams; 1 daughter, Barbra DiGennaro, and her husband, James, of Adams; 2 brothers, John R. Cowie, Jr. of Adams, and Douglas Cowie, of the State of Florida; 4 grandchildren, Derek Dabrowski, Kimberly Sherman, and Angela and Dylan DiGennaro, all of Adams, and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Christine (Nowicki) Sherman, and by a brother, William Cowie. The funeral will be held on Monday, March 30th, at 12:00 PM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by the Burial Office at 1:00 PM in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. R. Ellen White, Priest in Charge. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Youth Center, Inc. of Adams through the funeral home.
