View Video Tribute View Funeral Service Webcast Mr. J.W. "Dub" Rich, 86, resident of Country Club Lane, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Morning Pointe. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lewis County native was the son of the late Fred W. Rich, Sr. and Bessie Hensley Rich. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Following his military service he returned to school and graduated from Central High School in 1946. Mr. Rich retired from Monsanto Company in 1982 following 37 years of employment. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois Posey Rich of Columbia; two daughters, Wanda (Bob) Walls of Woodbury, Jan (Dale) Johnson of St. Paul, Minnesota; son, Jeff Rich of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Scott (Dana) Walls, Joey (Sandy) Walls, Jonathan (Mindy) Walls, Aaron (Emma) Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Mike Johnson, Brian Johnson; and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor Walls, Abbie Walls, Newt Walls, Whitman Walls, Sadie Johnson, Joey Johnson, Sammy Johnson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Rich, Jr., James "Cocky" Rich and a sister, Virginia Price. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be retired employees of Monsanto Company and the staff of Morning Pointe.
