Karen Armstrong, a long-time resident of Helsinki, Finland, where she held the position of Professor of Social Anthropology at Helsinki University, died on 29 May. The cause of death was complications following surgery for a cerebral meningioma. She was 67.

I am a second cousin to Karen, her mother was a sister to my grandmother. I am so sorry to hear of her death, and frequently over the years have wondered what her life was like. I am happy to hear she married and had two daughters, who will miss her greatly. Rest in peace, Karen.
