To Karen's family: my heart has a hole in it at the loss of your amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt. I last saw her at the ISB reunion in Dallas (2016), and we had renewed our friendship and enjoyed great conversations since. I was so looking forward to seeing her this October prior to the next ISB reunion. I wish you peace in your hearts as you grieve losing her. In time the ache will be replaced with loving memories.

This doesn't seem possible: we had been planning such a lovely time with Karen and the family when they were to come to the UK next month. Karen was so full of life, love and laughter: a light in all our lives. During our time in the States she made her home, our home and she was like a second mother to Ben and Georgia.
