Not sure what to say?

Karen was my American Literature professor at Converse. Her passion for great books and short stories inspired me greatly; I remember anticipating her class and the discussion of ideas the books generated. For years later, when I would see her in the grocery store or other places around Spartanburg, she would share the latest titles she'd read. Her particular love of Toni Morrison led me to read several of her books. She will be missed by all who knew her and appreciated her intellect and...

I will always remember Karen's shiny brown hair, her sparkling eyes and her ready smile--for many years displaying an impressive set of shiny braces on her teeth. We shared many Girl Scout adventures in Mrs. Tureski's troop. I especially remember that she had great ideas. At Girl Scout Camp Ouachita I remember she had advanced knowlege of how to rig the latrine at night using saran wrap to surprise the unsuspecting drowsy visitor!! In high school she often carried a thick book to read...

Karen and I were classmates at Camden High School, class of 1963. I am sad that she has left us but comforted to learn she stayed strong in her faith throughout it all. You and the world have lost a beautiful person. I have not met your family but wish for all of you God's peace and love as you face the future without her. The good memories you shared with her will at some point lessen your anger and grief of her illness & passing. I lost my husband five years ago on 11-21 but am so...

I was a student of Karen's during my time at Converse and was most fortunate to have maintained a friendship with her in the years following my graduation. Her determination and good spirits throughout her horrible battle with cancer were an absolute inspiration to me. Her love for her friends, her students (current and former) and most of all for Mr. Buck will surely serve as for me and others as something to live up to. Karen, you will always be in my thoughts and my heart.

MaryLou, Kirk, and Chris,
So sorry to hear about Karen's passing. She was a great fighter and was very well-loved by her entire family. You all have had a horrible couple of years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this extremely difficult time.
Candace and family

I was in Karen's high school graduating class of '63 and have many fond memories or our work on the school paper. She was always correcting my grammar even back then!

My recent note from Karen showed her strength, courage and ever-present sense of humor right to the end of her journey. I shall treasure that note forever!

God bless you all through this trying time.

I was a classmate of Karen at Camden High school in Camden, Arkansas. Though we were not close, I always remember her friendly smile and her good natured outlook. Please accept my condolences for her untimely passing. My thoughts and prayers for all her loved ones. Myrle Harrison, one of the Locust Bayou kids.

I am so saddened to hear of Karen's passing away and especially this time of year. We were friends in the band in Camden High, Camden, AR. We were not close but I always liked her because of her sweet smile and she was friendly. She was a very smart girl but I think she was most of all because she seemed to have figured out what the most special things in life were. My thoughts and prayers go outto her close friends and family. She will certainly be missed and remembered.

Karen was a dear friend and could do almost anything, like building a green house in her back yard, produced more vegetables in a small garden in her yard that could make continous meals all summer.
She fought the fight aganist the cancer and is now at peace
We all will miss her.
