Karen G. Caskey

This past week while baking Christmas pastries I had to smile as I remembered as a child baking with my mother in my Easy Bake Oven. ( A Hasbro Company toy that used a light bulb as heat to bake cakes.). My mother´s 1956 cook book contains the cake recipes we baked and off to the side in her penmanship are notations to cut the recipes into smaller quantities to fit into those tiny Easy Bake Oven cake pans.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. Sue, Brenda and I miss my mother very much. She was so inocent and mentally frail during this last year. I wrote a semi-homemade poem the day she passed that I'd like to share with you.

"In memory of Karen Gail Caskey who passed away this lovely day.

I have Alzheimer's, but just the same, Karen Gail Caskey is still my name. I may not remember who you are, but I know you're special, at least so far. I cannot speak, no words...

So sorry to hear that Karen passed. She has been reunited with your dad and both of them are watching over you & your families. There are so many childhood memories of both your parents. I was glad to be able to have dinner with them in 2012. The stories told that night of childhood tales were a wonderful trip down memory lane. Deepest sympathies.

May the God of all comfort bring your family peace at this time of deep sorrow.
