Karen Johnson Daniel, age 63, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at her home in Sugar Grove, VA. 


Karen was born on April 25, 1962, in Smyth County, VA. She was a devoted mother who loved her family with all her heart. Known for her kind and giving spirit, Karen was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She had a special talent for crafting and creating beautiful floral arrangements that brought joy to others. Karen never met a stranger, her warm personality and love for conversation made everyone she met feel like a friend.


She is preceded in death by her father Bain Johnson and her former husband Sput Woods. 


Survivors include her best friend and partner Steve Price; her mother Shirley Johnson; daughter Katy Anders & Neal Russell of Sugar Grove; son Taylor Daniel of Sugar Grove; grandchildren Kelsey Armstrong, Kole Anders, Grain’ne McGrady, and Henry Daniel; and her special pet companion Chubbs.

Karen was our neighbor most of my childhood, and always was kind. She took me and several others in and treated us like her own. Prayers for her family and friends. RIP.

I cannot express enough how sorry I am for your loss. I was so saddened to hear this devastating news. I always loved Karen. Growing up I always wanted to be around her and tag along places with her and her friends. She was just always fun to be around. And I know that she definitely loved you and Taylor so much and her grandchildren, too. She will surely be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and may God wrap his loving arms...
