Karen Ebert Obituary

Karen Marie Ebert passed away peacefully at home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on February 3, 2017. She was born in Baton Rouge on September 24, 1960, raised in Livermore, California and graduated from Granada High School in 1978. She graduated from Louisiana State University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Merchandising. She had an exciting career traveling worldwide as a fashion buyer for 15 years while living in California and Florida. She returned to Louisiana to be near family and started a new career in risk management and financial services. In 2012, Karen retired and became a full-time caregiver to her beloved mother. Karen's passions in life included her family, gardening, planning, tennis, sentimental movies, and canine friends. Her family and friends will always remember her thoughtfulness, selflessness, and generosity. She is survived by her parents, Paul and Violet Morovich Ebert, siblings Edward Ebert, David Ebert (Kit), Susan Ebert Roberts (J), nephews, Nolan and Callum, and niece Suna. Preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Ebert and loyal canine companions, Trixie and Bailey. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Karen's dear friend and caregiver, Kim Weill. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11 am. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10 am. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Dearest Ebert Family,

Karen demonstrated a deep courage with a positive attitude and will that was both uplifting and inspiring. Her beautiful smile, kindness and generosity will be missed by all.

When we played we giggled and laughed..running through sprinklers, roller skating ..we were always outside back then. I know where you are now you can be free, playing with your dogs in a wonderful garden. Happy, giggling and watching over us all. Such a thoughtful person to take care of her mother. Memories like these will help you. Many are the memories I have of my mother. I retired to take care of her full time, but she passed before I could do it on a full time level. As the family draws closer it will help a lot. Strength will be needed and a refuge. I had the good fortune to work with Karen at Whitney Bank for many years. She and I worked very closely and she was just an amazing person with a wonderful spirit. I am so saddened for her passing but will carry my memories of her and that wonderful laugh with me always. My prayers to all of her family.
